Use of Collected Personal Data

Comments

When you leave a comment on my website, the data entered in the comment form, as well as your IP address and browser user agent, are collected to help detect spam comments.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to check if you are using it. The privacy policy of the Gravatar service is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture will be publicly visible next to your comment.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on my site, you will be offered the option to save your name, email address, and website in cookies. This is solely for your convenience so you do not have to enter this information again if you leave another comment later. These cookies expire after one year.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles on this site may include embedded content (for example, YouTube videos, SoundCloud audio, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the same way as if the visitor visited those other websites directly.

These external websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking tools, and monitor your interaction with embedded content if you have an account and are logged in on those websites. However, this will only occur if you interact with the embedded content (for example, by watching a video).

Data Retention Periods

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows automatic recognition and approval of follow-up comments instead of holding them in the moderation queue.

Your Rights Regarding Your Data

If you have left comments on the site, you can request to receive a file containing all personal data the system has stored about you. You can also request the deletion of your personal data. This does not include data stored for security purposes.

Transmission of Your Personal Data

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
